Cheer Practice on Sunday, 1/4

Due to a conflict for the gym, practice on Sunday, 1/4 has been rescheduled to 3-5 pm instead of 1-2:30 pm. Sorry for the inconvience that this might cause.

Reminders!!!

This is just a quick reminder that we will be practicing on Sunday, 1/4 from 1-2:30 pm. The remainder of the week consists of the following:

• Monday, 1/5 -- Practice 7-8 am and Home basketball game vs. Springfield Calvary @6:15 pm
• Tuesday, 1/6 -- Home basketball game vs. Greenview @ 6:15 pm -- 8th Grade Night -- 8th graders; make sure that you are practicing your 8th grade dance
• Wednesday, 1/7 -- Practice 7-8 am
• Thursday, 1/8 -- Away game @ Springfield St. Agnes @ 6:15 pm
• Friday, 1/9 -- Practice 7-8 am
• Saturday, 1/10 -- ICCA Competition at Riverton High School -- TBA

This is going to be a very stressful week leading up to our first of 2 opportunities to qualify for ICCA State that will be held on Sunday, February 15th in Springfield, IL.

WLB Cheerleaders Place 7th at State!

On December 13th, the WLB Cheerleaders traveled to Peoria to compete in the IESA Cheerleading Championships. After a great performance and a lot of tough competition, they placed 7th out of 21 teams in small division category. Congratulations girls on a great performance and a great placement!

Gotta Love Those Basketball Games!

The girls had fun cheering sidelines at the first home game of the season.

The 7th/8th grade boys basketball teams played against Heyworth Junior High School on Thursday, November 13th.

On Tuesday, November 18th, the 7th/8th grade boys basketball team played against Delavan Junior High. The girls were excited to unvail their new uniforms for the home crowd! They also enjoyed showing everyone their awesome stunts.

Thursday, December 4th, it was back on the road and off to Hartsburg. The 7th/8th grade boys basketball team played Hartem Junior High. This was the girls first night cheering in almost 2 weeks due the Thanksgiving Holiday.

IESA Cheerleading Championship T-shirt and Sweatshirt Designs.

These are the designs that are available for pre-order for the IESA Cheerleading Championships that will be held on December 13, 2008 at the Peoria Civic Center. The purple design will be available on long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts. the blue design will be available on crewneck and hoodie sweatshirts. I will be sending home the preorder sheet soon. You will need to fill out the sheet and send a check made payable to WLB for what you are ordering. You will be able to purchase sweatshirts and t-shirts at the civic center the day of the event. All t-shirts and sweatshirts will be done by The Cubby Hole.

Homecoming Parade!

Friday, September 26th is the high school homecoming parade. As always, the WLB Cheerleaders will be riding/walking in the parade. All cheerleaders are welcome to bring candy to the parade to pass out to the kids along the parade route. It looks like we will have a warm day for the parade. Plan on wearing your new uniforms to school with your blue bodyliner. This is what we will wear for the parade. Please let me know if you still need lollies.

You will need to be picked up at Scully Park and signed out by a parent. If you are going with someone else, I need a note from your parent the day of the parade. The bus will remain at the end of the parade route if you need to ride it back to the school for pick up. Please let me know if you have any questions.

UCA Camp Pictures!

From August 5th to August 7th, the girls worked hard learning new sidelines, cheers, and dances that they will be able to perform during the up coming season. This is the first time the squad has attended a home UCA camp...and I think they loved the individual attention they got from their UCA instructor, Kate! Here are a few pictures from that week at camp.

They really did work hard throughout the week and put a great amount of effort into the material so that they would be game ready for the upcoming season.

During lunch on Thursday, they built a "fort" out of the mats. They relaxed in it, talked in it, and from what they told me...meditated in it. They were also hoping that Kate wouldn't know where they were at.

On the last day of camp, the girls were able to show off the new material they learned throughout the week. All 7 girls also tried out for All-Stars. Only three girls were able to make All-Stars due to the size of the camp. The WLB 8th Cheerleaders are all able to proudly say that they are UCA All-Stars.

Practices, Money, and Paperwork...Oh My!

This is just a quick reminder about a few things...

1. I wanted to remind you that there is no practice tomorrow. The calendars passed out in May had this date marked as a practice day...however, I passed out a different calendar in the folders passed out at camp. This is the calendar you should go by. In addition to that calendar, all practices and dates can be found on Edline and an updated calendar is posted on the cheerleading page on Edline.
2. If you haven't paid your money for uniform pieces etc...Please do so on Monday! I know that some of you have paid a portion of your, however, I need the remainder of your balance. If you are unsure of what you owe, please contact me for that information.
3. Some of you still need to turn in your Emergency Information Form and Media Release Form. All of these items can be found on the cheerleading page on Edline...or I can print additional copies for you.

Have a great weekend and I will see you all on Monday morning @ 7:00 am! Be ready to work hard. Also make sure that you are working on your sidelines by watching DVD disc 1. Also try out DVD disc 2 to let me know if it works for you or not!

Money is Due!

This is just a quick reminder that your money is due for all of the things that you ordered from Varsity and Studio 620 (Diane Coop). I need all money tomorrow.

New Uniforms!

I was at the school numbering all of the new uniforms, and thought maybe everyone would like to see how great they turned out! Everyone will get to try on their uniform Wednesday morning at practice! The new liners have not been ordered yet, but I hope to get that order placed tomorrow afternoon. I hope that the liners will come in just as quick as the uniforms did so that we can wear the entire uniform for the homecoming parade...weather permitting! Let me know what you think of the uniform...I hope ya'll love it just as much as I do. Even though I love it so much, it still doesn't compare to the white uniform...of which we will try on again on Wednesday to make sure everyone is sized properly. The two white uniforms that were ordered have also come in, so everyone will have white uniforms to try on.

Welcome Back to School!

WELCOME BACK! The time has finally come to get back to the classroom and back to the gym! School starts September 2nd with a 9:00 dismissal. We will resume practices on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:00 am! Don't be late. We have so much to do. Basketball Season starts in 2 months and IESA Competition is in 3 months. We have so much to prepare for. If you haven't already, please review the DVD's that you were given the last day of camp. You should know all of the material on those 2 DVD's. Also, don't forget that you money is due for your Varsity purchase on September 12th. I can't place the order until everyone has paid and we really need to get the order placed so that we have the everything for the start of the basketball season. Wednesday's practice will likely be a simple practice as we will be trying on the new uniforms...that's right the new uniforms are already in! HOW EXCITING! They look good and I hope that you all like them! Please let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy your last weekend of freedom!

Media Usage Permission and Current Physical

As we are approaching the end cheerleading camp, I have material that I would like to post of the squad, however, I am unable to because I don't have everyone's media usage form. I need those filled out and returned. If you don't want your image used on the blog, fill it out and deny permission. Otherwise, fill it out and grant permission. Remember, I have to have a current physical on file prior to practice starting again in Septemeber. Please turn those physicals into me and I will make sure that they get to Jeaneen in the office.

Fundraiser is Cancelled!

The Family Portrait Fundraiser has been cancelled. Please return all unsold coupons and sold coupons (with payment) to me or to the school office. For those that have purchased coupons, I will issue a refund with an appology letter for canceling the fundraiser. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Practice Cancelled!

Practice on Thursday, July 31st is cancelled. Camp is next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. After camp, we will not have any practices again until school starts. Please disregard your August practice schedule. I will issue a new calendar, information regarding uniform ordering, and I also plan to send out a DVD with sidelines and cheers that I would like everyone to know and learn for when we resume practices at the beginning of the school year. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Don't forget your blue, green, and white shorts for camp. On Tuesday, you need to wear your blue shorts with white t-shirt...don't forget your ribbon.

Cheer Practices Cancelled

Cheerleading practices have been cancelled during the week of July 21st (Tuesday, 7/22 and Thursday, 7/24). Practices will resume as scheduled on Tuesday, 7/29. Please remember to keep selling your portrait sitting coupons. Feel free to turn in money and coupon stubs to the office this week. I will be checking into the school throughout the week. I will be able to pick any up that have been dropped off and therefore begin scheduling appointments.

Just a Quick Reminder!

This is just a quick reminder to sell, sell, sell your coupons for the portrait day at WLB. This is our last fundraiser of the season, and the money will be used to purchase the matching the bodyliners for our new uniforms. Also, don't forget to get your blue, green, and white shorts for camp...it is coming up quickly!

Family Portrait Day at West Lincoln Broadwell

Don't forget to be selling the coupons for the Family Portrait Day that will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 This could be a very profitable fundraiser for the squad. I only ask that you sell 5 coupons and they only cost $10. Families will get a 10x13 portrait of their choice and the opportunity to purchase additional portraits. All coupon stubs need to returned to me by August 8, 2008. I need the time to schedule the appointments with the families! Please let me know if you have any questions.

WLB Cheerleading Apparel 2008-2009

The following are the designs that will be on the WLB Cheerleading apparel for the 2008-2009 season. Diane Coop at Studio 620 has done a fantastic job putting these designs together for us and will have shirts ready for camp in August!

The top is the design that will be on a grey t-shirt. It will also have all squad names on the back in an additional design in royal blue. This shirt will be worn for camp with green soffee shorts and during the season for game days, pep assemblies, etc. The bottom is the design that will be on a green hoodie. You will be able to put what ever name you would like to on the back and that will be in royal blue. This has not been ordered yet, but will be taken care of for those that want it in August or September.

This is the design that will be on a white t-shirt. It will have a plain back. This shirt will be worn for camp with royal blue soffee shorts and during the season for game days, pep assemblies, etc.
